ABSTRACT: The chest pain in children and adolescents is a common complaint which is one of the most common reasons for admission to the pediatric emergency and general paediatrics clinics and especially pediatric cardiology clinic. Chest pain in children is much less likely to be heart-related than adults. Chest pain in children is considered by the family of the patient as heart pain and worries the families.Chest pain in children is not usually caused by an organic reason; it tends to become chronic and the longer the duration of the complaint, the harder to find the cause. On the other hand, heart-related causes in the etiology of chest pain in children are important and can lead to life-threatening situations. In this review, the etiology of chest pain in children and adolescents and the approach to a child and an adolescent with chest pain are reviewed in the light of current information.
