Tracheobronchopathia Osteoplastica: Are We Overlookıng?

Nodular Trachea

Abstract

Tracheabronchopathia Osteochondroplastica (TO) is a rare benign, asymptomatic disease characterised by nodules in the trachea. We aimed to examine the question of whether we are overlooking TO with a typical case of TO diagnosed by bronchoscopy in a patient with chronic cough and recurrent upper and lower respiratory tract infections. In our case, we observed that there were nodular lesions in the trachea when retrospective thorax tomographs were taken and we aimed to emphasise that TO should be included in the differential diagnosis of clinicians and radiologists in the differential diagnosis of endotracheal lesions of bone and cartilage. In conclusion; TO is a rare disease of the trachea and we believe that it can be diagnosed earlier with Thorax CT, which is a naninvasive method.
